Art in action -talking sites (an art installation)

The installation is a collaborative and action oriented art project that attempts to bridge the divide between contemporary art and crafts, the urban and the rural.

It was a collaboration of students from Srishti and Artists and craftsmen from URAVU(a NGO which works towards establishing sustainable micro enterprises based on processing and value addition of natural resources in Thrikaipetta, Kerela) who worked as a team in different atmospheres including both urban and rural locations.

Mattoragni -The other fire

As the theme we delved into the concept of Bamboo and Fire, the two unifying factors between the urban and the rural.The idea of fire within us and the concept of urban viewing the rural as “ the other” and vice versa played a big role in shaping the sculpture.

The sculpture hand made from bamboo was created entirely at Uravu and was later transported to Bangalore.
